Dancing Is Forbidden: An Aqua Teen Hunger Force Exploration

Season 1 of Aqua Teen is must-see television for any aspiring creative. Despite its many flaws, errors, and clear growing pains-- Aqua Teen's first season still goes on to become one of the most enjoyable seasons of any television show. With infinitely quotable episodes, iconic side characters, and a genuinely interesting perspective, Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro took what little Cartoon Network was willing to give and made one of the network's biggest shows. And we get to see every step of that history in these eighteen episodes. THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO a cybernetic ghost haunted Carl. Why, you ask? Well, wouldn’t you like to know! His house was built on the graveyard of elves, enslaved by the Great Red Ape (Santa of Claus) and forced to make toys to be thrown at prey… and defecated upon. This, of course, before they unionized. Luckily, when life hands Carl lemons, he makes lemonade, selling this curse to rock-legend Danzig for a million bucks. For Frylock and Meatwad, Christmas is a time for giving. For Master Shake and Carl, the reason for the season is pleasin’. Shake is looking for a home chef, Carl looking for a partner of the physical persuasion. The first proper female character of the Aqua Teen world, poor Svetlana gets swept up into the insanity we’ve come to accept over these past 16 episodes. Also, Meatwad gets some hair. Have you seen Shake's PDA? Because he hasn't. Ever. Probably because it never existed. Turns out, Shake is just trying to copy cool-tar-guy Romulox, who I can assure you is better than all of us. While the content of this episode hasn't aged well, the jokes sure have. Ronnie gushes at how Interfection is formatted, and cries at his past internet experiences. Meatwad finds his confidence (and magical matter-bending powers) when he is given a new brain. Except it's not a new brain. It's not even a brain. It turns out, Meatwad had these powers all along... he just needed to believe in himself. But he believed in himself too much... and he became an asshole. Turns out, Meatwad is better with low self confidence. Realizing he's grown up to become too similar to Happy Time Harry than he'd like, Ronnie digs into this iconic episode of Aqua Teen.
